Sean Connery- The Next Face of Louis Vuitton?

WWD reports that Sean Connery may be tapped as the next face for Vuitton campaigns. "Louis Vuitton, which has featured Mikhail Gorbachev, Keith Richards and Francis Ford Coppola in its “core values” advertising campaign, has landed another surprising agent for its message. Rumor has it Sean Connery, the original James Bond, has posed for Annie Leibovitz’s camera, just in time for the “Quantum of Solace” frenzy."

OH MY....What Is This?!?

A week ago, there was a celebreation event for the launch of Damier Graphite in Soho Louis Vuitton store. The function also holded a temporary casino within the store for the guests to enjoy gambling and win prices (yes, LV goodies. I wonder what would it be?).

What is more interesting to me is this Croc bag! To be honest, I have never seen this before and has no information about it. If anyone knows or has info about this, please share with me. I would love to know more! I just LVoe it! Price: US$3,600 (as stated on ). Regarding to the price as my LVoely readers mentioned in the comments, I must agree with them that it is no way to be US$3,600. The Neverfull Alligator MM is approx $32,000 and the GM is approx $40,000 which doesn't sound right if this eye candy "Croc" is only $3,600!

Update!: According to Deluxeduck, the true LVoe collector^^, has dropped me a comment that this croc bag is from Men's F/W 2007 collection. It is a Mini Grimaud in "crocodile miel degrade".

Thanks Mr. DD!

Marc Jacobs up for an interview!

Marc recently visited Central Saint Martins school in London for the interview and here is what he said during an interview:

On designing his first ready-to-wear collection as the newly appointed creative director of Louis Vuitton in 1997:
“This Vuitton thing was scary … Suddenly you’re on the Paris stage, with this huge name. I felt so paralyzed by it. That first collection was a no-win situation. I thought, if I give them what they expect, they’ll be disappointed because they wanted to be surprised. If I give them a surprise, they’ll be disappointed because it wasn’t what they were expecting.”

On the difficulties of getting his spring 2001 Stephen Sprouse monogram collection for Louis Vuitton produced:

"I don't understand corporate people — I always say the design team's on the second floor and the corporate people are on the fifth floor, and it might as well be the distance between here and Mars … The press reaction to all that graffiti was so amazing … [but] they bitched and moaned, [saying] 'we're not going to do it'. I just couldn't believe it … at the time, that's how narrow-minded they were … [but] $300 million later, they think it's a good idea!"

On hiring Tom Ford to design denim for Perry Ellis when Jacobs headed the label:

"Tom was a different person then … Tom was this very, very sort of haughty, tasteful person, very Waspy … or that's what he was affecting at that moment. I thought it would be great to do a jean line with someone who has a very sophisticated mind."

On what fashion really is all about:

"When I trust my own whims, and the whims of people I trust, I feel that has credibility … Belief is embedded in everything you do — so it doesn't actually matter whether people like it. I guess what we do, as a team, is a daily, weekly, monthly re-evaluation of whims."

The quote that will make you say "word":

"I can't bear it when designers go on about inspiration … If a girl wants to wear it and feels good then who cares?"
We love you Marc!

The Perspective of LVMH Chairman

Bernard Arnault, chairman of luxury goods monolith LVMH, says that despite dire economic predictions and reports of a fall off in parts of the luxury sector the company expects profits to actually improve in 2008. "We are in a position to meet our objectives for a sharp rise in earnings in 2008," Arnault just announced at LVMH's annual shareholders meeting, according to Women's Wear Daily. "Every time we've been [in a difficult economy] we've increased market share. We've started the year strong. We will not pull off [of the accelerator]. We are focused on innovating."

Arnault, whose company recently added Swiss watchmaker Hublot to its portfolio of luxury brands, singled out handbags as a strong earner. "There are tons of new leather goods," he declared. "The Richard Prince bag for Vuitton has been an immense success and we won't be able to meet demand," Arnault said. "We can't produce the pieces fast enough." He also predicted strong sales this year for Fendi, calling it "one of the most important Italian brands on the market."

Louis Vuitton Europe president Jean Marc Gallot was at the opening. Here is what he said to Gulf Times:

Louis Vuitton with Bloggers for a Breakfast!

Louis Vuitton invited about 15 fashion bloggers including Bag Snob, Fab Sugar, Fashion Indie, Fashion Tribes, Get Kempt, Haute Concept, Nitrolicious to a breakfast last Thursday with Louis Vuitton’s CEO of North America, Daniel Lalonde and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication, Heather Vandenberghe, along with the LV team.

You may just wonder "why?". Louis Vuitton invited the bloggers to discuss about blogging community as they have noticed the importance of blogs and the rapid "growing" of blogs. Louis Vuitton has touched on with many topics with the bloggers including information about the history of the brand and product developments. On the top of that, Louis Vuitton also asked the bloggers "How do we work with you?".

Interestingly, during the discussion Louis Vuitton has revealed that there is a Louis Vuitton Bible filled with over 150 years of history for the iconic brand, which we hope they will think to put in print one day. Moreover, They did mention about the Journeys ad campaign and partially revealed that the next Journeys ad campaign will feature a couple. Umm who might they be?!

I personally think Louis Vuitton did take a really wise step in contactign with the independent bloggers! Louis Vuitton is surely up to something! We jsut need to wait for the surprise!

Louis Vuitton in Marriott!

Hotels are slowly moving beyond the bar, nightclub and restaurant trend to add some hip retail spaces in their properties. Of course, this is nothing new as some hotels have been doing this already for a long time. But what is news is the report of a Louis Vuitton store opening inside the JW Marriott Bucharest Hotel.
The store will open in June and offer customers the standard LV leather goods as well as the opportunity to design their own travel trunk based on their "requirements and taste."As for why LV would open in a Marriott, international senior VP for LV said :

"We looked on Calea Victoriei and on other boulevards in Bucharest but chose the Marriott because it is a visually safe and controlled environment, where you know who your neighbours are and do not risk having a sex shop open next door."

The Trip of Art with Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton has been well known as the legendary trunk maker and expert in leather goods as well as their city guides for many years. To celebrate their 10 years of "city guides" this year, Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Soundwalk has converted city guides into digital (an audio guide mp3).

China being at the honor this year with the Olympic Games, Louis Vuitton has chosen the first Soundwalk for three big Chinese cities, Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai. While walking on the steps of the biggest icons of the Chinese movie, Gong Secure, Shu Qi and Joan Chen, the sonorous guides propose a portrait of each of these cities.

The digital guides will be in six languagaes (English, French, Cantonese, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Korean) with background music (composed by Kubert Leung and Albert Yu) that are punctuated with mood of the city and synchronized with the walk. It is estimated to be launched in 16th June in Louis Vuitton botiques and Louis Vuitton website.

This sounds interesting! Let the digital audio guide begins your "journey".
